HDMI capable devices will typically not come with HDMI cables these days. And most retail stores will only stock ridiculously high quality & overpriced cables to sell you with your equipment to bolster their margins. I was in a large blue and yellow retail store today and saw varying grades of Monster 4ft HDMI cables for $114 & $149.

This is my take on the pros & cons of the respective parties perceived ideals Neither party is malicious, but both seem wrekless in some regards. I'm often baffled by the extreme partisanship, when ultimately we both want what is best. How to acheive it is what the difference is, and both sides should take the time to understand why the other believes that their approach will be beneficial, as well as be open to feedback as to what unintended consequenses any given approach has.
